Precious metal clays consist of microscopic particles of silver or gold suspended in a soft and pliable organic binder. These materials can be shaped with simple hand tools like normal clay products. Once dried and fired, the organic binder is burned away, and the microscopic metal particles fuse into pure silver or gold. In this class we'll be working with silver. Welcome to woodworking. The first session covers hand and power tool safety instruction followed by a safety exam. Attendance at this first session is mandatory. For first time students, the next nine weeks will be dedicated to building a cabinet. Here you will learn basic cuts and joints using hand tools and stationary machinery. Continuing students will work on projects of your choice and will continue to develop your skills and joinery techniques.
